Not all the best walks have be be long walks. The Steeple hill behind Lochgoilhead Village is well worth the puff to climb. There is a good path heading up to an rock used by the local outdoors centres for abseiling, and a rougher path the rest of the way. It’s a steady climb and in no time at all the views start to open up. As usual around these hills – you hardly ever meet anyone. From the top there are views down over the village and over to the Drimsynie Estate, the Caravan & Chalet Centre and all the way down Loch Goil. steeple2

Sunny but cold Saturday, ideal for the southern loop of the Ardgartan Peninsula Circuit from the Ardgartan Tourist Information Office between Arrochar and the Rest-and-be-Thankful. A map is handy if you are not familiar with the route. Easy walking along good forestry roads the whole stretch down Loch Long. Good views the length of the loch. Rougher path from Corran Lochan over to the forestry road above Loch Goil.

Drimsynie to Lettermay – 2 hours+. If you’ve clicked on expecting to find some romantic pictures of a walk-in-the-woods, forget it. The reason there aint no pictures of a certain lady is because the lazy mare decided that climbing a hill was not how she wanted to spend her morning. You can see what she missed.
