Ardentinny to Carrick Castle – a walk along the new path report

When you get the call from Craig the Activity Manager at Drimsynie saying he has done the hard part and arranged the transport to Ardentinny and the transport back from Carrick Castle – you go. Ardentinny to Carrick Castle is a linear walk following the west shore of Loch Long up over the hills to the entrance to Loch Goil before dropping down into the village of Carrick Castle. The map says between 5-6 miles, which doesn’t sound too far but we fairly yomped it dead on two hours. A more considered and leisurely walk, with time along the way for a feeding break by the shore, would be three... Read→

Small Acorns still growing at Hunters Quay.. a report

The Small Acorns fun family environmental event at Hunters Quay was a buzz of activity, with over 3000 visitors to the park over the weekend. With the week before being wet and the forecast showing no change, preparations had all been put in place for undercover activities. However, we need not have bothered – as if by request, the sun shone for the whole two days. Folks flocked to the park in their droves, This year’s event had a slightly different layout to previous years, with exhibitors situated throughout the whole of the leisure centre and outside in the marquee. This worked wonderfully... Read→

The Children in Need pyjama & karaoke party held at the Lochgoilhead Hotel on Saturday 14th November – was a stonking success!!!

Over £1,100 was raised – which way exceeded expectations.

Karen and her staff thank everyone who came along and joined in the theme of the night. Matt (the cross-dressing barman) seemed to really enjoy himself. So much so it was a job to persude him back into his regular clothes for his next shift.

See you all again next year.

A short while ago Dave and Beth retired to the East Coast after managing Loch Eck Lodges for a number of years. . Dave is looking forward to some good fishing and we wish them a long and happy retirement.

A path was made earlier this year linking Loch Eck Lodges to Stratheck Holiday Park. People can walk safely between the two parks without having to walk on the roadside. This path enables Lodge owners to use the facilities here and it was nice to see some Lodge owners using the path to join in a Halloween party on Saturday for the children and also in the evening to watch the fireworks.

Paul and I are now managing both Parks and soon a security barrier and camera will be installed. Next year we will employ a groundsman to help us with usual maintenance that is required to keep the Park up to a high standard. We held a coffee morning in the clubhouse on the 25th October to introduce ourselves and answer any questions the owners had, it was a very pleasant morning. It also gave the owners a chance to meet their neighbors.

Regards from  Gwen.
